Our Curriculum

Article 28
Every child has the right to an education.

Article 29
Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full.

“Oakwood is an exciting place to learn.” (Ofsted)

Although the National Curriculum is defined by law, neither those documents nor the law are our starting point.

Oakwood’s curriculum is a child’s entire experience from the moment they first arrive when they are four, to the moment they leave to continue their journey.

We believe that our children and our community are the drivers for our curriculum. Our curriculum changes and evolves.

It takes account of the needs of each cohort, the interests of the children, the expertise of our teachers and other staff, but always meets the statutory requirements for a broad and balanced approach.

Parents and carers are informed about the content of the curriculum via newsletters, flyers, and the very rich content on our website, which allows them to share in the experiences and achievements of their children.
