Article 2
The Convention applies to every child whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, abilities, whatever they think or say, no matter what type of family they come from.

Article 28
Every child has the right to an education.

We expect all children who come to Oakwood Primary School to wear our uniform.

Children have a right to be safe in school, to a good education, and to not be judged on the clothes that they wear.

Uniform promotes a sense of belonging to Team Oakwood and encourages children to take pride in themselves and the school. It reduces the distinction between cheaper and more expensive clothes and means children can focus on their learning when they come to school, not what other people are wearing or what the latest fashions are.

Our rules about jewellery uphold children's right to be safe and are recommended by the PE and Games advisors.

Most of our uniform is generic, unbranded clothing which you can get extremely cheaply from supermarkets. Our "logo" fleeces, jackets, cardigans and jumpers are available through the school and are very reasonably priced.*

(*If your child is eligible for pupil premium, your child may be eligible for a complimentary item of uniform. Please ask in the office.)
